A Universal Lens Cap Seems Like A Good Idea For Photographers

If you own a DSLR, then you might know the frustration of losing a lens cap. Especially when it’s a high-end lens that costs more than a kidney. For the uninitiated, it’s like owning a Ferrari and losing your hood. You really don’t want something like that to be left exposed.

Well, now there’s one Kickstarter campaign that’s trying to fix that with a universal lens cap solution. Rather than a traditional plastic lens cap, the Kuvrd Universal Lens Cap is made of thick silicone that allows it to stretch and form tightly around lenses. They also claim that the material is more shock absorbent than standard plastic lens caps.

The killer feature of these seems to be their universal fit, which makes them perfect to throw in a bag when you’re carrying around a few lenses. Hey, if you’re carrying around a lens that cost more than an ounce of gold, you should probably have a backup solution if you lose the flimsy plastic lens cap.

Available for $30 on Kickstarter.
