Sky is the limit! - Dunbeholden coach Cohen optimistic about RSPL debut

Michael Cohen, coach of Dunbeholden FC, expressed his delight after they marched into the 2018/19 season of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) following a 4-0 thrashing of Wadadah FC.

This was inspired by a Jerome Wedderburn hat-trick in the final round of the Magnum/Charley's JB Promotion play-offs at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay on Sunday.

"The feeling is overwhelming. This does a great thing for the community - not just for Dunbeholden, but also for St Catherine football. So we are just going to take it one step at a time and represent well in the Premier League," said Cohen.

Cohen, who is aware that promoted teams are usually the favourites to face relegation, said they will do their utmost best to not follow in that trend, as they have a unique situation where they strive for commitment.

"If you know the club's history, none of our players are getting paid. We come up against the teams with all the money and the support and managed to pull it off. We have some committed, humble and hungry guys, so as long we keep this going forward, with the support we should be getting, I'm sure the sky is the limit," said Cohen.

When asked about future plans and if they will look to change the current arrangement with the players going into the Premier League, Cohen told The Gleaner that this is a matter for the board, as he is just enjoying the moment with the club and community.

"We just won a final, so are going to sit down with the management team in the week and think about that. For now, I just want to celebrate with the team," he said.

Wedderburn's 19th, 37th and 73rd minute strikes were backed up by Orrett Richard in the 57th minute to see Dunbeholden (12) topping the four team table ahead of Mount Pleasant FA (11) who also qualified for the RSPL.
